Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015, the global and most comprehensive mobile show, took place for a consecutive 10th year in Barcelona, Spain during March 2-5 in Fira Gran Via. The event experienced the highest number of exhibitors and visitors of all times placing strong confidence in the growth of the mobile industry. After the event, GSMA announced a huge success with record-breaking attendance for a consecutive 4th year at the Fira Gran Via. With more than 93,000 visitors from 200 countries, attendance up by nine per cent over the last year, MWC 2015 shattered all previous records.
Mobile is one of the most dynamic industries in the world, and the innovation that is powering the sector was clearly evident throughout MWC 2015, in the exhibition, the conference, programs such as the GSMA Innovation City and new initiatives such as Big Data, mHealth, Connected Women, Mobile Identity, Development and Inclusion. The Innovation City space showcased a Connected Living environment and enabled attendees to experience technology in context and see how mobile-connected products and services can improve the daily lives of citizens and businesses across automotive, health, home, retail and other applications, in both urban and rural settings.
Featuring over 2,000 exhibitor companies showcasing cutting-edge products and a four-day conference packed with informative tracks, MWC 2015 continued to be the premier place where industry executives from the world’s largest and most influential companies, as well as, government delegations from across the globe come to advance their business. Visiting the exhibition halls provided glimpses of exciting new devices, connected cars, wearables, tablets, accessories, and an increased focus on solutions that continue to enhance customer experience and bring revenue today!
Along with device innovation, operators of all sizes continue to place strategic emphasis on service innovation, especially on solutions that increase quality of service and customer satisfaction, and enhance subscribers’ communications experience. Interactive USSD-based services, niche call completion and roaming products, effective spam SMS filtering and targeted mobile marketing solutions were key focus areas.
MWC continues to be a key indicator that gives us the pulse and direction of the mobile industry for the year ahead of us.
